End-of-Life Care and Patient Communication in Critical Care Settings

Effective communication is paramount in the critical care environment regarding end of life issues. Patient participation in their care is both a patient right and legal requirement. This webinar will include identification of various communication methods, including use of a one way tracheostomy speaking valve. Researched evidence will be used to provide the purpose, goals and methods for a patient population for whom communication needs are often undervalued and under-served. This course is intended for nurses, respiratory therapists, speech-language pathologists and other health care professionals providing care for the patient in the critical care environment
